Ecology

Service Prestige takes ecology seriously

At Service Prestige, we are conscious of the ecological impact of our activity and take an active part in protecting the environment:
  1. By training our chauffeurs to drive smoothly so as to keep fuel consumption and carbon emissions to a minimum while ensuring maximum comfort for passengers.
  2. By taking the level of carbon emissions into account when renewing our fleet.
  3. By (as far as possible) choosing diesel vehicles equipped with a particulate filter (the case for our Renault Vel Satis, Volkswagen Minibus, Mercedes Class S and Audi Q7)
  4. By constantly surveying the market for developments in new, more ecological, models designed by manufacturers.

More ecological vehicles

Encouraged by the growing awareness about global warming, by stricter anti-pollution norms and tax incentives, all major car manufacturers are currently investing in perfecting new technologies and developing new, more ecological, models.
This section summarises the new developments that Service Prestige is following closely and gives a sneak preview of the models that could make up our fleet in the near future:

- Mercedes Class S 400 BlueHYBRID

Mercedes plans to launch its first hybrid model in 2009; it will be a Class S hybrid, equipped with 299 hp V6 petrol engine de and a 20hp electric motor. Average consumption expected: 7.9 litres / 100 km with CO2 emissions of 190g per km.

- Mercedes 250 CDI BlueEfficiency

For its Class C and E, Mercedes has designed a 250 CDI supercharged diesel engine that combines power, economy (5.2 litres / 100 km) and cleanliness (138g of CO2 / km). Thanks to improved aerodynamics and low rolling resistance tyres, these models will comply with the future European norm EU5.

- BMW 7 Hydrogen

BMW has gone down the road to hydrogen engines, which only reject water. A few personalities are already testing 7 Series cars with these engines; but the concept has yet to overcome high manufacturing costs and the absence of a hydrogen distribution network.

- Mercedes DiesOtto

The solution of the future? The DiesOtto engine designed by Mercedes combines the performance of a petrol engine, the high coupling and fuel economy of a diesel along with extremely clean emissions. This technology would enable to propel limousines of the size of a Class S with small engines. For the moment, only the prototype Mercedes F 700 is equipped.
